Adeline Hummel - Chief Dog Handler

Adeline is an undergraduate student at Michigan Technological University within the Civil Engineering program. Although she was born among the trolls (in Michigan's lower peninsula), her love for the Keweenaw has grown ever since. You can find her out hiking or snowshoeing the Keweenaw in her free time. The CopperDog was Adeline's first-ever experience with dog sled racing in which opened her eyes to a whole new community of people.

Having been highly involved within her community back home, Adeline wanted to find ways in which to be part of the surrounding communities here in the Keweenaw. The CopperDog was a perfect fit. She started as a volunteer dog handler her first year, and over the last few years, she has worked her way up to Chief Dog Handler and Lead Vet Check Coordinator. She credits her rewarding experience in the CopperDog to the hundreds of volunteers and community members that help make this event possible each year.
